Kang Contemporary hosted an Artist Talk on Kathrin von Lehmann’s Book Launch “textura performativa 5”. The focus of the discussion was on the performative aspect of von Lehmann’s work process and methods in contrast to her prior publications which focused on the media, subject matter as well as themes of her artistic practice. Her book is the latest in a set of five publications conceived by the artist since 2000 for the documentation of her oeuvre.

Katrin von Lehmann works at the intersection of art and science. Since 2009, Katrin von Lehmann has developed experimental arrangements using the traditional media of paper folding, photo braiding, perforation and drawing. It has been Kang Contemporary's pleasure to show von Lehmann's artworks in several exhibitions, but also to provide her with a platform to present her latest publication “textura performativa 5” and a panel discussion at the gallery this past summer. Her artworks deal with the theme of human diversity as well as research methodologies from molecular genetics and climate science. Katrin von Lehmann begins each of her series of works with a unique artistic process. Her work is defined by experimental questions and rigorous performative methods inspired by and derived from scientific research processes. The individual systems of creation determine her approach to paper and each technique.

Katrin von Lehmann who lives and works in Berlin and Groß Glienicke, Germany works at the intersection of art and science. Her artistic practice is defined by creating rules and techniques of performance, as well as expansive installations and photographs. The artworks from the series  Unknown/Nothing Is Right Now (since 2015) explore concerns of human diversity as well as research methods from molecular genetics and climate science. These scientific issues are translated into artistic practice.
