Jeongmoon Choi
Born in Seoul, South Korea, and Berlin-based artist, Jeongmoon Choi originally studied painting. South Korean artist Jeongmoon Choi lights up the darkness with a complex, geometric mesh of UV reflective threads that create a certain sense of confusion – as the threads reflect the light, the space seems to vibrate. The artist conceived a relationship of tension between the fragility of the filament structures and the massiveness of the structure of the surrounding space that was blurred in the dark. Her installations give the impression of being virtual, sparking contemplation about analog and digital »positions«, structures, movements, and perspectives in space. She is fascinated by the idea of also developing installations in exterior space, and exploring the possibilities of public installations. Jeongmoon Choi studied at Sungshin University in Seoul and moved in 1995 to Germany where she studied at the Kassel College of Fine Arts. She lives and works in Berlin and Seoul and her work has been exhibited in many countries around the world.
